Supporting the school employees who help our students succeed.
Local 434 members recently came together for a postcard party to support the Unemployment Equity Act, legislation that would allow public school-related personnel (PSRPs) to qualify for unemployment benefits during the summer months when school is not in session.
Advocacy efforts like this help raise awareness of the challenges many education support professionals face and encourage lawmakers to invest in the people who keep our schools running every day.
Supporting PSRPs is also an investment in our students. When school support staff have greater financial stability, districts are better able to retain experienced, dedicated employees, providing students with consistent relationships, stronger support systems, and a more stable learning environment.
Thank you to our members who took the time to make their voices heard and advocate for school employees across Illinois.
