I have served as the President of the TA Council for the last 3 years, and prior to that, I served as the Vice President for 4 years. During my time as President and Vice President, I was also the SWAC Rep for BFT Local 434 and a seated voting member of the Executive Council for BFT Local 434. I'm now seeking a 2nd straight term as President for the Teacher Assistants’ Council for BFT Local 434. My view on our Union and my objective is simple. Every member's voice should be heard and every concern should be valued, no matter how little the voice is or how minor the concern. I look forward to continuing my journey in this great union and working for the people of our council.
As we venture into uncertain times, I feel it is more important now to have experienced leadership guiding this union as we get ready to engage in one of the most important negotiations in my 17 years in the district. During my tenure as President, I worked with the District Office to triple the number of Campus Patrols on each campus, adding more jobs to our union. I have also studied and learned about IMRF and Social Security, and have been able to help many of our members navigate the scary struggles of retirement. I’m fully invested in this union, district, and community. I live and grew up in Belleville and attended Belleville West. My wife Andrea is the Director of Guidance at Belleville East and attended Belleville East. Very soon, my two girls will be attending a District 201 school. I’m hopeful and look forward to continuing as President of this council. |
