In 2025, I stepped into the role of Secretary for Local 434, proud to serve in my first year as an Executive Board member. I believe in the power of communication, organization, and follow-through—and I’m committed to using those skills to support our members.
My union involvement is deeply connected to my belief in building supportive, informed schools. I serve on the Trauma Informed Support Committee, and I am a trained facilitator for the Illinois Federation of Teachers’ Response to Students’ Stress and Trauma workshops, helping educators within our district better understand and respond to the challenges students carry with them into the classroom. In 2018, I also served on the Maternity Leave Committee, advocating for more supportive policies for our members. I’ve taught English at Belleville West since 2012, and I love my work in the classroom. My favorite aspect of teaching is planning a quality curriculum for my students, and I finished my MAED in Curriculum Design and Instruction through McKendree University in 2025. My husband and I are both educators -- Matt is currently an aide at Whiteside Elementary and is working on his bachelor's in elementary education. Our son Dylan is a student at Whiteside and will also be a District 201 student in a few years. This district is home -- for my career, my family, and my community. I’m honored to serve Local 434 and ready to support our members with clarity, compassion, and purpose. |
