I am wrapping up my 11th year teaching in District #201. I teach social studies and aviation, and I have the unique experience of being on all three campuses each day. I am a Belleville West graduate and continue to live within the district. I was lucky to represent BFT #434 at the AFT Convention in Pittsburgh in 2018, and hope to continue to become more involved in our union leadership.
As residents of the district, it is very important to my family and me that we continue to have a strong school system. Our district is going through many changes with our district leadership, our contract expiring next year, and big questions when it comes to government funding in the future. With these challenges, I believe we need union leadership that stands up for the rights of our members, continues to advocate for our students, and forges relationships with our community. We can do this by being active at every level. |
