Members of all BFT Local 434 councils (teachers, paras, and admin. assistants) attended the Southwestern IL Central Labor Council awards dinner to honor the outstanding work and contribution of those dedicated to the labor movement. SWICLC includes Building and Construction trades, Industrial Trades, and Service Trades. A special congratulations to Labor Woman of the Year Barabara Outten, a 30+ year teacher from East. St. Louis School District and a union leader in East St. Louis Federation of Teachers Local 1220! Thank you for your service and dedication! Teachers Christine Schaab and Ashley Mims represented Local 434 in supporting the Moms On a Mission back to school carnival today by handing out candy and playing games with kids waiting in line for the back pack give away. Approximately 1000 book bags stocked with school supplies were given to community members in need. It was great to see so many of our students excited to head back to school with their new supplies!  |
